Well on Sunday I took the train into Geneva from Lucerne. It was an absolutely beautiful train ride, especially between Lausanne and Geneva, when the train ran along Lake Geneva and the sun came out and you could see all the way down the grapevine studded hills to this magnificent dark blue lake. Geneva is such a different city than Lucerne or Zurich. It has different styled houses, a different layout, and unlike German dominated western Switzerland, Geneva has a very very strong French flavor to it.
Unfortunately, I initially had a harder time navigating the streets of Geneva than the other Swiss cities I was in. I couldn't find the tourist info. place, and I didn't have a map. But eventually I found out how to get around a bit. The old city was similar to other old cities, narrow, stone streets. The cathedral was pretty cool, it was this grand old cathedral with this ultra modern looking organ in it. And I went to a 'museum' for swiss army knives but it turned out to be someone's old collection in a display case in this store that sold swiss army knives. It was cool though.
That night I went out to eat with my couchsurfing host Nadia (who is wonderful) and we got a traditional Swiss meal, Cheese Fondue. It was delicious. They served a very soft beef jerky like meat with it, and you ate that while they heated up your cheese. Then when the cheese was ready, they gave you some bread and you dipped the bread and bam you got cheese fondue.
Today I went to CERN, home of the largest particle accelerator in the world. I wasn't allowed to see the accelerator, but I did get to see a small exhibit entitled 'Microcosms,' and it was like a small MOST exhibit. There was a cool video though that detailed CERN's discovery of the W and Z Bosons in 1983, which provided further evidence for the electroweak section of the Standard Model theory.
I also went to a museum of the military history of Geneva. It sucked.
So far I've had beautiful weather here in Geneva. A nice turnaround after the chill that swept over Lucerne the morning I was leaving. Hopefully the nice weather will continue into Torino, which is where I'm going next!

Your CERN visit
Daniel, It's amazing you visited CERN. There was just a clip on 60Minutes(I think), maybe 20/20, that showcased that place and how it's a particle physicist dream job. I couldn't believe what they are trying to accomplish. I thought about how I wish you could see this because you are right over there and it's a totally amazing place. No surprise really, you were already aware. It's great to read about your adventures. I love you, Keep the peace, Love,Aunt Sue
Happy for you!

Re: Warm Welcome
Oh yeah! Nadia's brothers came over for a dinner and Nadia cooked this amazing gourmet meal! It had some of the most spectacular desserts I've ever tasted, Fruit Kebab over a bowl of chocolate and caramel mousse.
