Well, it has been a few days now, and I am still alive and well here in Europe. The flight in was long and arduous, but I survived, and eventually found myself in Zurich, Swizterland! The hostel I stayed at wasn´t the nicest one int he world, however, even though I only paid for a dorm room, there was no one else in the room with me, so I essentially got a single for the price of a dorm room!

Zurich was beautiful, even though the weather was not. The public transportation system in the city is amazing. You buy an all day pass for 7.80 chf (swiss francs) and you can use any mode of transportation offered by their system. I rode on the subway, the bus, the tram, and even a boat.

The city itself is very expensive. I managed to get by without buying virtually any food, just eating the protein bars I brought. An interesting fact, a Big Mac costs about 11.30 chf in one of Zurich´s main McDonalds. Now if you convert that into US Dollars, it equals about $10.40. Of course, Switzerland has that reputation of having the most expensive Micky D´s in the world.

Now I´m in Lucerne, a much smaller city then compared to Zurich, but its just as beautiful. Like Zurich, the city is built on the edge of a lake. This morning I woke up, went outside, and was able to watch a couple crew teams launch their boats to begin practice, it was fun to watch. My hostel this time around is much much better than the one in Zurich, it even has a balcony. Although, this time around I´m sharing my dorm with three other men, but they´re all pretty friendly. A weird thing about the swiss keyboard is that its hard to find some symbols such as ! or @, and the z and the y are switched, making it difficult to type.

Well, now its time for me to go wander around the city some more. Lucerne is a great city for walking, everything is relatively compact and very traditional, making it great for sight-seeing. Tomorrow, I leave for Geneva!
