We woke up, and checked out of Fancy Guest House. The manager asked where we live. I told him UK and he pointed at the wall. "So you know Elton John?", he asked.
On the wall was an Elton John picture, with "To Fancy Guest House Thank's For All" scrawled on it. Magic. I asked him tongue-in-cheek when Elton John had stayed there. "Last year" he replied. I took a photo of the picture. I was thinking "this idiot thinks I believe him." He was thinking "this idiot believes me." Of all the people, tantrum queen Elton John! Cristiano Ronaldo would have been about as likely to stay there.
After breakfast we got a tuk-tuk out to the airport. Catherine's mum, Annie, joins us today. She'll be with us for the next two weeks. Her flight arrived on time and we went back to the hotel we'd booked. We're living it up now. We had an enormous two-bedroomed apartment, with a massive LCD TV, a decent kitchen, a DVD library and full of decent furnishings.
The apartment was nice enough that you could spend the day in it, without feeling like you're missing out on not exploring the city. And that's pretty much what we did today, took it easy with lunch and dinner at restaurants around the corner.
