I found out almost a month ago that my trip had a hiccup in it. For some reason that I still cannot explain China Eastern canceled my June 1 flight from LAX to Beijing. They told me they would give me a hotel voucher to stay in LA and fly out on June 2. I expected Motel 6 but instead was surprised to discover it was the Sheraton at the Airport. Nice!!! Plus - my favorite - food vouchers!!!!!!! You think I can order some Chinese food?

I arrived at LAX as scheduled and went over to the China Eastern Airlines ticket window and the line was huge. Turns out they had a problem yesterday and canceled that flight so all those people were in line to go out today - when I showed up. (I wonder if any planes actually leave for Beijing.) But no worries, I wasn't in a hurry. I stood in line with an EVANGELICAL Catholic woman. Nice conversation. The most interesting part of our conversation was her statement that too many Christians are afraid of death because they do not understand and embrace their eternal destiny. I did agree with her on that point. Where was I?? Oh, yeah - in line. I get to the ticket counter and showed my passport and itinerary and the first thing they said besides Ni hao - was - we have room on this flight for you.

Oh man, I was so ready to go but I have plans to see my sister and brother in law tonight. We are going to a Dodgers game. So I declined and took the hotel voucher.

Now I am in the Hotel lobby checking email, trying to make sure I connect with my sister, and getting ready to go to the game. Should be fun.

More later....

The Last Time In LA
It is interesting that you are looking forward to attending a Dodgers' game. They used to give tickets for Dodgers' games to first time traffic offenders. For the 2nd offense, they made them actually use them and attend a game.

Re: What about Hotel McConkey
Your place was great and food vouchers too. You have to read the previous day to see your name in lights.
