Woke at 7.30 and started with scrabbled eggs on toast and two strong coffees, it was really foggy but i was assured it would clear for my tour. My moterbike guide was an elderly chap called Patty who advised me to wear a jacket of some sort as we were heading into the mountains at 9am. I took his advice and stuck on my hoody which id only worn to Heathrow back in December. The Karen Long Neck village was about 16 miles west of Mae Hong Son on the Burmese border. By 9.30 the fog had cleared as promised and we were passing bannana and orange trees and now and again we were hit by the strong smell of garlic as we passed garlic and rice fields. The last off road bit was a bit tricky but i had every confidence in Patty as the Thais balance on mopeds is famous im sure throughout the world as travelers pass on stories of 5 on one bike with mother carrying a 6 month old as she peels an orange. The Karen village was fasinating and i was only one of two visiters at 10am ahead of the Chiang Mai tours that hadnt arrived yet. For each photo i was granted i bought something from the women or gave a donation towards the school. Outside the refugee camp was the Burmese border which was basically a red and white barrier maned by two officers. After the village we headed off to hot spring and mud spar, not really my thing, ok if you had your girlfriend with you and she wanted a mud spar or facial, however i dipped my feet in a hot spring pool for 15 mins before we were on our way again. Next was the cool Pa-Sau waterfall and 5 miles on from that was a fish cave. We headed back around 2ish where i booked a mini bus for my one night in Chiang Mae again before heading off to Chiang Rai the following day. The evening was made up of downloading  photos to my travelpod
