Show trip route
Once we arrived, we realised that being New Year's Day, nothing was opening until 10am. We were a bit keen haha so we went for a walk through Chinatown and back, then enjoyed a cooked breakfast at the Soho cafe. I had an egg white omelette and delicious coffee. Once we had eaten we were ready to hit the stores. Everywhere had massive sales so it was hard to hold back.
I bought shorts, jeans, shirts, jackets, boots, shoes, hats- the works! I finally got my Victoria secret fix... Stocking up on the cutest stuff! We took a small break for lunch around 2pm, at the most delightful bar. I had a chicken wrap and salad. Yum!
After lunch we continued shopping, however it was getting colder and a bit busier, which was problematic considering we both had so many bags! We caught the bus back to our apartment to see our New York family for the first time today!
I also had my first hot cocoa- insanely good. Not for my thighs I must add, but the combination of the heat, cream and sprinkles is one I'll never forget! It was well worth taking off my glove for it and that says a lot in -5!
The kids and Jenelle were pretty tired from our New Years festivities so they decided to stay in for the night. Josh, Paul and I decided that we would go out for a meal at Chevy's- a cool Mexican joint in Times Square. I had fish, veg and rice- it was incredible. The boys had ribs, which looked good too!
We called it a night around 10pm as we have big plans for tomorrow- Central Park! Wa hoo.
We are a little nervous about the severe weather warning that was issued for tomorrow night and Friday. Apparently New York City is going to experience a blizzard with over 9 inches of snow and crazy winds. We are hoping that it isn't as bad as they say so that we can go to the show we have tickets for tomorrow night (and if course we don't want to be on house arrest for our final days in this amazing city!)
Blizzard or no blizzard I'm looking forward to some more snow and all the excitement it brings. It's hard not to smile when there's snow!
Goodnight from New York,
