Where I stayed

We wanted to stay in Sunnyvale, because that's where the Nokia office is located. It turned out to be pretty convenient, with the most important shopping chains close-by, on El Camino Real. This, by the way, is one of the longest streets in the world! I think it starts just outside San Francisco and goes all the way down to San Jose. It's nothing special really, and the scenery on both sides of the street is just repeating itself (same shops/restaurants/stores for each small city along the way), but it's still nice to just cruise along it (instead of blazing down the highways).

Anyway, so this city was the base for all our trips around the Bay Area. When going to San Francisco, we actually drove the car to the Caltrain station in San Bruno and took the train (around 20 mins) from there. Seemed to be the easier (and cheaper) option, which it was. Otherwise, there are tons of freeways close to Sunnyvale and you can pretty much get anywhere within a couple of minutes. The city itself doesn't have much to offer, although there's this cute little street called Murphy Avenue, which tries to be original American (and succeeds to some degree).
