Entry continued from prior page - by Katelyn

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes over the sun. A solar eclipse only occurs in the world every few years, and it can only be seen in specific places in the world, depending on the path of the sun and moon.  That is why when you see a solar eclipse it is a big event.

This is unbelievable! You were in the right place at the right time. I am all caught up on your blog now and am loving it! You guys are learning more than you would in school and you will remember everything better because you saw it! Keep me in the loop here!

Girls - i love seeing these photos of the eclipse and Death Valley. I have never been to Death Valley - and your pictures showed it so beautifully. I liked the picture of the hawk and the ones of you girls at the top of the dunes. Your descriptions are great, i feel like i'm with you! Ms Beauchamp

Yes, we were in the right place/right time for the eclipse. What we didn't point out in the blog was that we were just outside of the ideal band (ran from Oregon to Texas) where you see the complete 'ring of fire'. We saw about 90%, which was still fun.

There is another huge event (does not happen again for 114 years) on June 5, where Venus passes in front of the sun in the afternoon. We are hoping to capture that one as well.
