Lexington, KY - Day 1

(by Katelyn)

Today I had an awesome day.  I had an awesome day because I went to the Kentucky Horse Park.  At the Kentucky Horse Park I did a lot of fun things.  First we went to the Visitor Center to get admission and information.  Then we went to a horse show.  The purpose of this horse show was to teach you about the different types of horse breeds.  The brought out six breeds.  My favorite was a horse named Jessica.  It was a mix of a Spanish horse and an American horse.  After the show we walked through some of the horse stables.  I really liked this because I got to see the horses doing funny things like sticking their backsides up in the air and putting their tail up high in the air.  The horse that I liked the most was a horse that was almost 3 times my height.

After this we went back to the Visitor Center to watch an introductory movie and eat lunch.  After lunch we went on a disappointing 5 minute tractor ride that took us around the farm.  After this I was really excited to go see several champion horses.  Their names were Cigar, Mr. Muscleman, and Funny Cide.  I was so excited because Funny Cide was 1 race away from winning the Triple Crown.  Cigar was also an amazing horse because he won 16 races in a row and won $10 million in his career.

After we saw the Champion horses we went on horse rides.  My horses name was rain, and on the ride I saw a great heron.  I had a great time riding the horse, an my favorite part was mounting and dismounting.

We then went to a horse competition.  The judges the competition graded the competitors on the horse calmness and how their feed hit the ground.  It was really cool because the horses feet came up to their body when they bent them.

Finally, we went back to the RV and played basketball and ate dinner.  We then made a fire and had smores.  I had a great day!

Lexington, KY - Day 2

(by Katelyn)

Today was not as good a day as yesterday!  It started out with Dad trying to make us French Toast, but one of the handles from a pan made the drawer get stuck shut.  I had to try to block out the horrible slamming sound for 15 minutes while everyone tried to get it free.  Finally the drawer gave in and opened for us, and then I had a good breakfast.

After breakfast I went back to bed and knitted because there was a big rain storm that had been going since the night.  It finally ended later in the morning, and the rest of the day looked pretty clear.  We decided to go on a 20 mile bike ride from the Horse Farm into Lexington.  When we started out the weather was even nicer than ever.  On the ride we went on some fun bridges and went through some cool tunnels.  We rode on a very nice bike path all the way.  However, when we got close to Lexington, the path got very narrow and it was on the road.  We decided that it was better to go back to stay on the nice path.

When we got back we played on the playground for a while.  The playground had a cool zipline and slide, so it was fun.  Finally, the last thing we did was go fishing at a lake on the Horse Farm.  I caught 1 fish, and we caught 6 in total.   It was really weird because we usually wait about an hour before we get a fish, but this time we caught fish within minutes!  After fishing, we rode back to the RV, took a shower, and went to bed.
