Marshalltown, Iowa

(by Madison)

Today we drove to Marshalltown, Iowa.  We went to visit the Millers, who are friends of my Dad.  When we got there we met their 10 year old daughter, Emily.  We went with her into the woods and saw train tracks from 1931.  We played in the woods for a while and then we came back to eat lunch.  After lunch we wanted to get Emily's brother, Owen, back for spying on us.  We decided to trick him and shoot him with water guns.  He got really mad and completely wet, and had to get changed.

We then went on an 11 mile bike ride with my Dad, Emily's Dad, me, Emily, Katelyn, Emma, Owen, and Owen's friend Tristen.  We biked to a place called Grahms Farm.  The girls rode ahead of the 4 boys and we beat them there.  Then we went on a half-mile hike to an observation tower where we could see all of Marshalltown.  We beat them there, and it was really pretty when we got to the top.

When we got down, Emma moved the boys helmets to slow them down, but they couldn't find them and then my Dad had to ride all the way back to get them.  The boys were supposed to get us back on the bike ride, but they couldn't because we went faster than them!  Finally, when we got back Tristen said that he could beat Emma in a foot race because she was a girl.  Well, they raced and you know who won!

When we got back to the Miller's, we had dinner.   Mrs. Miller made delicious lasagnia and salad, and the kids all ate inside and had fun.  After dinner, Emma and Katelyn stayed downstairs and watched Yogi Bear, and Emily and I went upstairs and talked for the rest of our time there.  Emily and I wanted to have a sleep over, but we couldn't just because it was a school night.  We decided that they should come to Philly over spring break!

I had a great day at Emily's and hope to see them again soon!
