Today we woke-up and drove from Oregon to Boise, Idaho. This was 340 miles and the longest drive on the trip. The drive was mostly boring. The one fun part of the drive is that we watched a movie. I also liked stopping on the side of the road to catch grasshoppers. I caught 5, but 3 escaped quickly.
When we got to Boise, we went to the grandparents house of our friends.. We were so happy to see our friends. When we got there we played dress-up. Katelyn was the queen, Mia and Ava were the princesses, and I was the maid. We played for about 2 hours. Since I was the maid I went upstairs and downstairs to get them what they wanted. After we were done playing we went outside and jumped on the trampoline.
Next, we went inside and ate dinner. My favorite part of dinner was the twice-baked Idaho potatoes with cheese. I also liked the grapefruit. It was Mrs. Gates birthday, so after dinner we got to eat cupcakes.
Finally, we got ready for bed. Katelyn and I slept with Ava in the bunk beds, and Madison slept with Mia in the RV.
Boise, Idaho (Day 2)
Today we rode our bikes along the river. It is called the Green Belt, and we rode to the prison. Along the way we passed the zoo and saw a giraffe. We also stopped at a fish hatchery. We saw some very big fish there including one that was 7 feet long. It was taller then my Dad! We also saw some very tiny fish.
Next, we played in the Boise River. The water was really cold. We caught 10 tadpoles. We saw a snake that was about 2 feet long in the river also. Next, we ate lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, Katelyn swam across the river. Then Madison, Mia, Ava, Ty, and Dad followed her.
When we arrived at the jail, it was closed. We were disappointed, but we got to go into the woman's jail. We then rode all the way back. When we got back we played on the trampoline again. I learned how to do a flip in the air. It was really fun. Then, we ate dinner, which was leftover from the party last night.
Then we took showers and got ready for bed. I thought my nose was runny, but it was a bad bloody nose. I yelled for my Dad, and we cleaned it up. It was the biggest bloody nose of my life!
Boise, Idaho (Day 3)
Today we drove to the court room where the Gates' Granddad worked as a judge. At the court room, we got to listen to the end of a real court hearing. We also got to sit in the judges chair. They were spinny, made out of leather, and really comfortable. We also got to talk into the microphones that the judges use.
Next we drove to the prison that they used in Idaho from 1872 - 1973. This time we got to see the jail. It had really small rooms. Two people had to sleep in a tiny room. Also, you would have to take a shower in front of everyone in the jail. If you were really bad you would have to sleep on a metal bed with no mattress. The 'hole' was for really bad people. You had no beds, 6 people in your cell, and a 3 inch hole opening. The people in the 'hole' didn't even get to go outside for 1 hour. They only got water and bread, and only 1 or 2 meals a day.
Next, we said good bye to the Gates and walked to our RV. We will miss them! We drove about 2 hours until we got to a Walmart to stock up on food. We continued to our campsite, ate dinner, took a shower, and went to bed.
