Only an hour to Surfer's. Clocks went back an hour when we arrived coz Queensland don't operate on daylight saving. Thought this was great as we had another hour to play with. But of course YHA were an hour late picking us up. Seriously - don't become a member.
English jack the lad picked us up and nearly got us killed by his driving. When we got to the hostel we found that it made Byron look like the Ritz! Stinking hole. It was on a Marina though and it was cool to walk round and see all the yachts. There was actually a chapel boat where people can get married :)
Took the bus into town and had a look about. Very touristy (listen to the tourists speaking) but also pretty cool. Loads of high rises - very like the Algarve. The beach was class with all the beautiful people but enough about us
Later that evening Jay did us proud at the pool competition. Wiped the floor with 15 people and won us the takings. woo hooo. We met two Kiwi guys who were a scream - Brad and Corey. Absolutely hilarious - spent the night with them before they headed off chasing after two unsuspecting girls.
The next morning we decided we would take surf lessons. We think Tracy was still on cookie time and didn't actually realise what she was letting herself in for (for those who don't know Tracy is absolutely petrified of water). It turned out to be an absolutely cracking day and neither of us drowned or got eaten by sharks but we had the best craic. Jay even managed to stand up and wave at the ladies (show off). Shopped for a bit and headed back into town that night. Had a great time here.
It was totally awesome dude.
