Sydney
Ended up in the wrong bloody building - some flights to Sydney are classed as an international - God knows!!
Got an earlier flight which was good and the guy didn't make us go to the other building - nice man. Flight was very rough but it wasn't long.
Got a bus into town and checked into Sydney Central YHA - great place - very big. Had a rooftop pool and sauna with great views of the city. Took a dander into town and got the ferry over to Manly (apparently called this because Captain Cook looked at the guys on the beach and said they were very manly!!). Just as we were about to board the ferry they closed the terminal because someone had left a bag and they were checking it for bombs - crazy. False alarm though - some stupid American thought she would just have a coffee and leave it lying there - Duh.
Cool place with great views of the opera house and the harbour bridge as you head out and back. When we got back into town that night we took a walk about and had pizza. When we were coming out the roads were all blocked off and there were hundreds of people in the street. Of course we had to see what was going on so we walked right up and saw a car had smashed into the front door of a pub!!!
The next day we had good weather so we went to Bondi Beach (according to the brochure for the YHA Bondi was minutes away - turns out it was 1 hour and 2 bus rides away!!!). Anyway we eventually got there and stripped off and slapped on the 30+ sun lotion. To be honest it's a cool beach but it's reputation is better than it actually is. Spent a couple of hours there then headed back (another hour).
Headed out that night and Tracy got Miller!!!! wooo hooo. Headed down to the Rocks (oldest area of Sydney) and had a pint in Sydney's oldest bar. When we tried to head back up town we couldn't get in anywhere because Tracy didn't have any ID. One place said she didn't look over 18!!! and the other thought that she had had enough to drink for the night and they didn't like the look of her - I mean what's all that about? Jay reckons they were a fair judge. So it was a dry night and not by choice - Jay may not need rehab after all Jonathan :)
The next day was absolutely chucking it down. Miserable. We got up late and lazed about the hostel for a bit. People in the hostel ended up putting on movies especially coz of the bad weather. We had had enough of sitting in so we headed down to the harbour and walked over the bridge to get some good views of the city. Then we went round to the Opera House. Walked right around the city then headed back for more relaxation.
