I woke up to the sound of the birthday boy snoring and smiled. It was his 6th birthday and he had the privilege of deciding what we did today (within reason, always have to give parameters with him lol). Plus Aunt Joyce was visiting to see him all the way from Spanish Town today so we would need to be available in the early afternoon.

I went to the gym for 0600 as usual and stop off at the lobby on the way back to chat with my Cyber Buddy and collect email etc.

When I got back, birthday or no birthday the kids were in Auntie school doing their early morning lessons :0).

KK was still determined to go to Club Mongoose for a little while to celebrate his birthday and then leave. His sister wanted to stay there all day and pleaded, but we explained that they both go or neither, plus it was his birthday and they were not going today.

I have noticed that Kaleb is being reference by all his names many names on this blog lol. His Mum, Auntie and sister always call him “KK” (short for Kaleb Kyle), I call him “K” :0). Just thought I would clarify.

Prior to breakfast the birthday boy opened a few birthday cards but the rest we thought we would leave until Aunt Joyce arrived. At breakfast K had his hearty breakfast as always, along with some oatmeal porridge. He was loving his fried fish and as he picked up a piece to eat he would threaten his fork with “You are going down!”, why we were not sure but it was entertaining :0).

K’s choice for the day was to play in one of the pools. The beach was rejected for some reason which I now forget. I know another young lady back home who would reject the beach every time for all her quirks of combining sand, shoes and feet lol. No therapy probably would not help her :0).

Ericka and I had a morning of entertaining the kids by and in the pool. K and I played around inventing all sorts of underwater games whilst Kaisha darted back and forth to play on the water slide in the pool next door with some of her BFFs.

As the morning progressed the skies began to get darker and darker and thunder claps could be heard getting closer and closer. Before you knew it the sky was dark black. In the end the life guards in all the pools were blowing whistles and asking everyone to get out the pools. 5 minutes later we had the most amazing rain and thunderstorm, it was torrential. We got dressed just in time, collected our belongings and made our way to the lobby.

As it was gone midday I called my Aunt who was due to be with us and found she had been waiting for about 45 minutes but no one could find us! Good job she had arrived before the rain as it was heavy! Aunt joyce had brought little Jessica with her who was 3 year old and every bit Jamaican. The kids struggled to understand her initially, so did we but she was so entertaining and spoke like an adult lol.

Typical Jamaican phrases she came out with during the afternoon which had us adults in stitches:
“Wha you a pull me up sa fa Aunt Jice”
“Fill it to de tap na Aunt Jice”
“No, him guan laf afta me”

Whilst we all had a birthday lunch the rain carried on relentless, but time flew by whilst we nattered and the kids played. 2 hours later the rain finally stopped and apart from a few puddles you would not of know we had had such a down pour for so long!

We then went down to the Cabana beach bar on South Beach, ordered drinks and K opened his birthday cards and presents. Aunt Joyce had also bought presents for the rest of us welcoming us to Jamaica, bless her :0).

K’s wish was then to hit the pools again. This time they were in the infinity and plunge pools. Jessica changed and joined them, she latched on to Kaisha and would not let her go. The funny thing is our two not use to this level of heat were in their element and nice and warm playing around in the pool, where as poor Jessica spent the next few hours with her teeth chattering. It was amazing to think she was actually cold in the heat, but just goes to show how the body gets use to a certain climate etc.

After farewells to Aunt Joyce and Jessica the kids had showers and then a little time on their DS’s before dinner and an earlier night than the night before. I was shattered too and glad for bed after a very enjoyable day :0).
PS. Please feel free to leave a message as all seems quiet out there and worried i am talking to myself :0)
