We were a bit worried about travelling in this weather but we wanted to get through Sydney today (Sunday). We had so many negative reports about driving through Sydney
We stayed the night at Shellharbour. We would have liked to stay longer but the park was a bit ordinary, well not the park itself but the people who ran it. When you book in and behind the counter is a guy in a dressing gown and PJs, well you have to wonder!! After driving through the park we came across another woman sitting out the front having a fag in her PJs, around 3pm, we were beginning to think that maybe we had missed a PJ party and that it was a requirement to wear PJs during the day. It wasn’t worth moving from one park to another so we have moved on to Ulladulla.
On the drive from Shellharbour to Ulladulla we went in and out of most of the small coastal towns including the Shoalhaven Heads and also visiting the Jervis Bay area. We had lunch at a great little place called Huskisson. I was going to take a photo of us kissin' in Huskisson, but damn, I forgot..... I am sure you will all be saddened by that.
Jervis Bay has become renowned for its fabulous beachside locations and lifestyle, with Hyams Beach reputedly having the whitest sand in the world!!!! Not sure about their claim but it is certainly worth the drive. St Georges Basin and Basin View were also very scenic.
We finally booked into the caravan park at the Burrell Lake park at Ulladulla. There was only one other caravan in the park. The next day they left so we had the whole 88 sites to ourselves. The weather was beautiful, cold nights but lovely sunny days.
After 3 days checking out the area we will move further down the coast tomorrow.
