After 3 months of clear blue skies we were a bit downhearted to wake to gusty winds and threatening black clouds. By time we got to Yeppoon it was raining. Out came the coats from under the seats in the van, the last time we set up in the rain was at Streaky Bay in SA in March.
We settled in for a cosy night with the heater on hoping the van was waterproof, thank God it was!!
Today was still quite windy but the rain has stopped.
Yeppoon, situated on the coast on the Tropic of Capricorn is a beautiful area. We contemplated going on a cruise to Great Keppel Island but the water looked a bit too choppy, like a BIG bit too choppy!
We spent the day sightseeing along the stunning coastline on the Scenic Highway.
At Emu Park there is a huge white sculpture  on the headland overlooking Keppel Bay which was erected as a monument to Captain Cook. The design incorporates fluted pipes, which sing in the wind. It is quite amazing, it actually sounded like someone playing the organ.
This evening we met up with 3 couples from Colac. Cocktail hour was very entertaining with plenty of stories exchanged about fishing, dairy farming and travels around Australia.
Another beautiful place and great day.
Tomorrow we go to Gladstone to meet up with our great friends Gina and Peter Kelly. We are also looking forward to catching up with their daughter Paula and her husband Anders and children Cain, Taige and Quinn and can't wait to celebrate Gina's 70th birthday on Saturday.

I was hoping the title of your entry didn't mean that Mr Mac had a "wind" problem! Still loving your blogs and hope you're enjoying your last few weeks. Please say hi to Paula and her family for us and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Gina!
