It was sad to leave Buenos Aires this morning, our home for the last week but I take some great memories with me. We have arrived in Puerto Iguazu next to the famous Iguazu Falls. That is going to be our trip for tomorrow to take a day around the falls.
We took the plane here as I said in a previous blog, because we do not have the luxury of enough time for what would be the 19 hour journey here...instead we did it in one and a half!
This place is in complete contrast to BA - it is all jungly and hot and humid. And I have never seen so many weird and wonderful insects in my whole life...and this was just at the airport!
The hostel is more like a hotel...it even has a pool! I have to say that having a swim at dusk as....sorry I have to interrupt there...as I write this some tango dancers have just started doing their thing in the middle of the common room....bizarre.
So where was I? Swimming. So I went for a swim in the outside pool at dusk. It was going dark and the stars were just starting to come out...the insects were buzzing loudly in the trees around and in the forest the sounds of more strange creatures. I was swimming there looking up at stars I have never seen before and it felt really quite serene amd surreal at the same time. It's certainly something that I will remember long after I get home.
Earlier in the afternoon we managed to take a quick trip into the main town and it's certainly different...it's a small place and you really get the feeling that you've gone back in time about 50 years. It has so much character. I'll try and get a photo tomorrow so that you can get an impression of how the place feels....lots of red sandstone soil everywhere and it seems to coat everything. Cars, houses, even people seem to be coated with it!
Well the Salsa is still going on so I'll close there and wish you were here!
Lastly, I've had some feedback about the proposal not to send updates whenever I write something new and the overwhelming feedback is to carry on sending emails! So thanks for the support!!! I think I'll send the email every once in a while...
