I got some requests for pics of the Buffalo Train Terminal.  I already posted the three that I took.  They are just from the passing train and through the snow, so they are not too clear.  I am posting here some more pics I got from the Internet of the Terminal in its heyday and in its abandoned state today.  The good news is that there is a group now that is investing to restore it, not as a terminal, but as a retail center.  Well that's better than nothing! A lot of old rail stations are magnificent structures, like Grand Central in NY.  The one in Los Angeles was beautiful.  It has a spanish style courtyard and a garden.  The old Penn Station in NY was also spectacular but in 1961 the powers that were decided it was better to build something more modern and functional.  I am including a pic of that too.

Thank God for Jackie Kennedy Onassis... She saved Grand Central... Without her it would have been demolished in the 1970's or 80's. They have a plaque at the station thanking her & honoring her for her fight to save it. She was so intensely private, and that was the only thing that she ever spoke out about in public in her lifetime (after the assassination). I love those architecturally beautiful old train stations... Europe has a lot of them. So sad about the original Penn Station... It was architecturally gorgeous... What a letdown what they replaced it with.
