We are running about 4 hours late coming into Los Angeles. Conductor says we hit "something" last night and it took three hours to file a police report. I hope to find out a little more about that. California desert along here is beautiful as the sun is coming up. There is a Salton "Sea" that I never heard of. It is the largest lake in California. In 1915 engineers were working on irrigation projects on the Colorado River and accidentally flooded this low part of the desert forming this salt water lake. It is the second lowest lake in the US; only Death Valley is lower. For a while it was a popular resort but the small towns dotting its shores are mostly abandoned now.
