I was glad to have put in some extra study time yesterday, as it helped this lesson go well. We decided to head back to enjoy our hotel during the day. Charlie wasn't hungry, so I walked up to the hotel restaurant (La Estancia) for a good chicken sandwich (37Q). I liked that I felt very comfortable having a meal by myself there. I took a number of pictures of the gardens on my walk back-- with the sun shining right on the flowers, there were too many good shots to pass up.
To the school in the afternoon, where Charlie grilled hot dogs on the back porch (there is some talk of the school turning this area into a cafe-- I'd love it). A test for my Spanish-- he sent me out to buy tomatoes and cilantro from one of the several local shops...and I did it!
When we returned to the hotel. there was a man sitting on the patio near our room. He greeted us in English, commenting on the New York license plate. It turns out that he is an etymologist from Wisconsin, here with a friend doing research. We enjoyed a very interesting chat with him.
