We could hear Nessie calling our name so we continued on down to Drumnadrochit, here is where Lonely Planet explained the Loch Ness 2000 exhibit centre was the best, and particularly offering the cruises. For 10pound each we got out on the Loch and here we were calling Nessie's name but 'fraid we had no luck in finding her. Instead the boat ride on the way out was extremely choppy (Paul started to look a little green round the gills), yet we got awesome views and photos of the Urquhart castle and ruins. Despite the sonar imagery and the photo the skipper Edwards claimed to have taken back in 1994 that was of Nessie, we both still came away thinking... ahhh Tui billboard! And not when he was only charging 50p for a single copy of the photograph...

Carrying through we went onto Fort Augustus and here we checked out the locks. We got there just in time to see a few boats floating on down the water, the dams were pretty cool – I spotted jewelery in a small shop so admit I got distracted (still no Celtic necklace).

Returning home we came via the south side of Loch Ness – here you got the impression it could have easily been the NZ countryside but with Heather flowers scattered all over the place, the odd Highland cow plus the stunning stoned/coblestoned houses. Got home at a fairly reasonable hour, 8.30pm and have another big day planned for tomorrow – Skye!!
