i'm taking care of a little kitten. been taking care of him for two weeks already. about the size of a mouse, he was just three weeks old when a student of web found him wandering the streets alone, meowing up a storm. she promptly picked him up and decided that christina would be the perfect mother for him. christina who talks about her two cats constantly and shows her students pictures of them in class promptly said no. but she did think that lacey would be a good mother for him.

unfortunately, lacey had just left for her three week vacation at that time. so i volunteered to take care of the little package. but i was expecting a much bigger cat- not a furball that fit in the size of my palm with room to spare. so immediately went online and read up on how to care for orphan newborn kittens.

and luckily, after two weeks, he's doing pretty good. i take him everywhere with me- work and even to lee's going-away dinner where he proceeded to steal the show. and whenever i'm at web, christina and jason have been watching him. as a result, he's very spoiled. and happy.

and now he's about 1/3 bigger than he used to be. his body fits in my palm but his big head sticking out between my fingers. his paws are getting bigger and bigger too. so are his lungs. i've never heard a cat make so much noise when i'm trying to do anything- from showering to changing my clothes to actually trying to work. he hates it all, screaming so loudly you can hear him over loud-ass chinese co-workers, crying babies and screaming mothers. his little meow cuts through them all.

but i love it. he's so loving and needs so much attention. being the smallest thing i've ever had to take care of, i'm in pure kitty heaven. so i'm trying my hardest to not become attached, staring at pictures of chopper to remember my priorities. plus i've got another hurricane in the gulf to look out for. so once again, my time in china might be cut short again. i'm definitely counting down the days till end of hurricane season. 11/30, you're just too damn far away.
