Where I stayed

That's what happen when one has his expectations inflated. The moment I get to Mechukha I realise that it's a flop. The town is tiny (which is not a problem) but it looks like it burnt down and rebuilt some 20 years. The houses are unattractive and primitive. In addition it has a military airstrip crossing all over. The only nice thing are some mountains around. The first thing I do is to get ticket back to Aalo - not for tomorrow morning, but the day after. Then I'm explained that there are no hotels here, and there is only one guesthouse at the end of the town - there I walk.
The dude at the guesthous does not speak any English, there are some girls here, and I manage to explain what I need. The youngest of them (she's around 16) is in charge of running the place - food, cleaning, everything - this is like instead of the school, I understand. The oldest one came from Itanagar - just visiting her uncle (the dude proves to speak Tibetian:).
I still can't mamage that "lady's last" principle - me and uncle are served first. Only when we are done the girls eat (whatever is left). And this is after we were talking togather all the evening.
There is a old gompa on the top of the hill - this is probably ths only interesting site to vist - I'll do it tomorrow.
