Woke up to stunning view of Mount Aspiring and a fantastic breakfast, our B&B is just great and really good hosts, Sharlene and Ray. Sharlene had rung up the helicopter people for us to see if there was a chance we could go for our flight today, but alas it was bad weather over at Milford Sound and so they wouldn't take us as it wouldn't be a good trip for us. So she rang a jet boat company for us as we decided to do a 3 hour trip down the river towards Mount Aspiring......
We had 2 great guides who were so enthusiastic about the river and the history of the area and the canyon the river is in. The river was so shallow but the jet boat just raced over it, with Brent doing loads of near the edge and trees stuff and fast spins of the boat. So much fun. We had amazing views of the glaciers and the ridge where Lord of the Rings second film starts. We also had a walk in a Beech forest and Hemi told us some Maori legends about how the south island was formed
Queenstown in the afternoon to check out the adrenalin capital, much bigger place and much colder. Went up in the gondala to get a good look down onto the town and the lake, but the lugge was closed so we couldn't race each other back down. And I didn't fancy the bungy!!
Dinner and then the mountain road back along the Crown Range to Wanaka, the sun was setting and made shadows on the moutains which were cool.
Another different and great day :)

. Really interesting and different to just having a quick jet boat trip with lots of spins but nothing else. This trip was 3 hours and much more infomative and from the hearts of the guys.Queenstown in the afternoon to check out the adrenalin capital, much bigger place and much colder.
