12 hours sleep later and feeling a little more human it is time to get up and go exploring the city.
Walked from Lucy and Paul's along the Avon river; funny to see ducks with ducklings... wrong time of the year in my mind. Paradise ducks, very pretty colourings. Everything looks prettier here, even a blackbird looks nicer, I'm putting it down to better lighting!
Christchurch is made up of really long roads on a grid system... you can see for miles down one road. Not too far into city centre. Cathedral square is first port of call and busy with street entertainers and tourists. Visit to the Aquarium and Kiwi centre. Kiwi's are so cute, alas no photo as it would scare them. Shy little creatures. Good to have seen one though as nocturnal and not really found in the areas we will visit.
Jumped on the tram to the Art Gallery, it is made of glass and represents the flow of the river. Back on the tram to the botanical gardens, blue sky and sunshine and the plants look really colourful. Found a funny looking chap next to a sculpture of a fern!
Tram back round the loop to the Cathedral square and a little shopping before venturing back to L&P's for a good meal by our resident chef Paul..... and some more wine! Great to be in a country with such good wine.
