Today is our friend David Stringer's birthday, so we all want to say Happy Birthday to You!

Today is a beautiful day with sunny skies. We left Chemainus after the best hotel breakfast ever. I made 2 waffles. Mom had scrambled eggs and she said they were almost as fluffy as Dad's. In no time at all we were in Victoria and arrived at the Butchart Gardens about 1pm. This place was on Mom's list of "must do's" and I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled about it. Boy, was I wrong! These gardens are awesome. The sunken gardens area is a real knock-out. Dad says it looks like "Shangri La", which he says means like a paradise. Sounds cool. We ate lunch at the Blue Poppy cafeteria. I had chicken strips and tater tots; Mom had an egg salad sandwich and Dad had a wrap.

The gardens are a little way out from the downtown area of Victoria. We drove into town and found our hotel, the Admiral, which is in a good location on the Inner Harbor. You can walk to the main sites pretty easily. Our room is #302 and has a balcony where you can see the harbor. It also has free WiFi and a little kitchen. This makes Mom happy.

Dad and I went out exploring and we checked out the waterfront, the Empress hotel ( another really fancy hotel right on the water). We also looked into a cool bookstore and a chocolate store called Rogers. Mom was making our favorite dinner, tomato Mac n Cheese with hotdogs.

We left to go on a Ghost Walk that started at 9:30pm. It was dark so the walk was even spookier. The man who led the walk told good stories about ghosts in Victoria and we walked to some places where spirits have been seen or felt. Near the end, when we were in a haunted alley, someone with nothing better to do screamed and it was scary. The tour ended around 11:00pm.

It sounds like a really fun, exciting day. I have been told that the Buchart Gardens are spectacular so I'm glad you got to see them.

I cannot believe all the great things you are doing, and all the wonderful places you are visiting. You are giving me an idea for a class project for my 4th graders next year:)

The flowers are so pretty. I am sooooo jealous of your ghost walk. I love ghost facts and everytime I have tried to attend a tour, the hours did not fit into our schedule!
