So we finally got back to our cabin in Mosquito Junction (after breakfast at Micky D's-yum!) and it was already a busy place with people getting onto the waterfall trail that is right next door. We hiked up to the Lower Falls, which was cool because the trail takes you right over the rapids on a narrow catwalk. We saw chipmunks along the trail. At the Falls, there is a cave you can enter and be behind the falls-I liked this part the best. It was fun getting wet.

The trail was really crowded so we decided to skip the hike to the Upper Falls. Mom made a picnic lunch and we drove to the Lake Louise area. It was about a half hour away. We hiked Moraine Lake, which was a beautiful blue-green color. Dad thinks it is turquoise and I say aquamarine. Whatever the color, it is the prettiest lake I have ever seen. We walked all the way to the Falls. You can get a good look at some glaciers around this lake too.

Lake Louise was next and this was another pretty lake, although the color was not as pretty as Moraine. This is a very popular spot but there were plenty of benches to sit and look around at the lake and the mountains. There is hiking here too, but we just relaxed and watched the water. There is another famous hotel here that was built by the Canadian railroad about 100 years ago- we explored this a bit and it was nice, but not as special as the Banff hotel.

Dinner was at the Mountain restaurant with a view of the glaciers around Lake Louise. We all ordered the burgers, which were yummy. Mom had the sweet potato fries, which came with a good dipping sauce. On the way home, we took a long way because it was prime time for animal spotting. We got lucky and when we were driving slow we saw a black bear eating on he side of the road! it crossed the road and I was
able to get a photo. We stopped in a few more places where moose are supposed to hang out, but all we found was lots of mosquitos.

Mammal Moments is from a local radio station. We thought it was hilarious.

I've been checking out photos of Lake Louise online and I think you're both right. It's turquoise and aquamarine! Just beautiful.
(I hope I'm not posting too much.)
