Where I stayed
Another driving day. We left Canyon camp early and headed towards Mammoth Springs and the northwest exit from the Park. We stopped to take a few photos in Mammoth because Mom really liked the look of it. Finally we found a McDonalds in Livingstone, MT and had breakfast. I was really hungry and had a sandwich and 2 hashbrowns-they are so good!
There isn't much to see on the drive through Montana except ranches. We stopped again at the Salmon Lake State Park to grill burgers and have lunch and of course it started raining as soon as Dad finished grilling. The burgers were still really good. This spot also marks a milestone for Mom because she used the porta potty, which she thinks was only the 3rd time in her life! I'm sure that's an exaggeration, but she is still scarred from it
It was almost 7pm when we got to the Fish Creek campground in Glacier Park. It's pretty and really green. Our site is #C136 and is a little hilly in the spot where you pitch the tent, but Dad managed. We can burn a campfire here, so we plan to buy some firewood in town. The closest grocery is in Apgar, where we went for a late dinner at Eddie's Cafe. I had fish and chips and Mom had tilapia. The fries were really good and so were Mom's mashed potatoes. We weren't expecting very good food so we were happily surprised. The store had firewood so we bought that. When we headed back to camp it was dark and there were two baby foxes (kits) playing at the entrance to camp. They were really cute and didn't seem afraid at all.
