Well Bussleton was my port of call for four unexpected nights due to the starter motor breaking down on me.
Monday morning I rang the RAC as suggested by the roadside assist guy, to organise the towing of the van to their garage, but the receptionist knew nothing about my breakdown nor that the van was due in that morning. After a few phone calls she rang back and said the tow truck driver would be there in a couple of hours. Ok!. It was 9.30am.
So I settled down on the bed and picked up my book and waited and waited.
By 12.30 I was a little worried that if the towie didn't come soon, they may not have enough time to fix it before 5pm, so I rang the office again. She was most apologetic and said he should be there within the hour.
Well he finally arrived close to 2pm and I must say I was extremely agitated as I knew it was going to take a couple of hours to fix it. Watching the van being dragged up the tow truck, then chained and shackled was frightening as it seemed lopsided and unsecure until... I was sitting in the cabin with the driver did I really feel anxious. He was hurtling along at around 80kms with my van sitting atop the truck and what looked like it was swaying from side to side.
The towie assured me that all was safe and he had never lost a breakdown...yet!

The mechanics got straight to work and it was ready to drive away by 4.50pm, Phew! That was a relief.

Driving along the road I thought the motor was making an unusually loud noise when I was brutally thrown forward in my seat and realised it had just changed into second gear. ???? What the...?
What now?? I kept going and as I approached the park I engaged the breaks and once again it jolted me forward as it changed back into second. Naturally my first thoughts were...what's broken now?
As it was Monday evening I just parked the van and didn't worry too much about it.
Tuesday morning was a different story, as I left the park it became obvious that the gears weren't engaging. Great! So I nursed it back to the garage and explained the situation. It only took the guy a couple of minutes to realise that the vacuum seal had been knocked or whatever and I was back on the road...

Time to continue with the 'Adventure' and the next installment...
