Where I stayed
Mary River

From Halls Creek it was a slow drive to Fitzroy Creek, nervous that the hose would fall off or the bypass wouldn't be sufficent to hold until Broome.
My stop over for the night was at Mary River a  'freebie' next to the Mary River and pleasant area just far enough away from the main road to avoid any truck noise. The sky was a glorious blood red at sunset...but I missed it again. But new the next day was going to be another scorcher.
With the new day I took off early so as to beat the heat and make good time before having to do my usual stop in the middle of the day to avoid being boiled.
A few kms down the road I came to a lookout and decided this time I would take a look, so glad I did the view was amazing. It's called Ngumban Cliff and the colours and forms are just beautiful. Considering I haven't had the chance to see many of what is to offer because of the dogs, I was thankful for this experience.
At this stage I am about 500 odd kms from Broome and therefore needed another stop over, so I pottered along to Willare and booked into the caravan park for the night.
They charge like wounded bulls for overnight stays whether you're one person with no air-con or not it's still the same price. There should be a law against this, especially when those huge 5 wheelers have all the mod cons and get charged the same as me. Sucks big time.
Then I went to buy a bottle...$ price without the resto, but they did have a big screen TV that I was about to watch when this woman came up and sat down at my table with her dinner plate, with a huge T-bone and vegies on it and started chatting to me. We finally said good night about 10pm, it was pleasant having someone to chat to.
Next morning she had left a message on a piece of paper suggesting a caravan park in Broome that takes dogs something rare out here apparently and close to the beach. So once again it was back behind the wheel and the slow crawl to Broome began.
At Roebuck Plains I stopped to top up and to my horror saw liquid dripping on the ground...SHIT! what is that? Put my finger in it and it wasn't oil and certainly wasn't coming from the air-con overflow... lol.Checked the water level, all good, temperature good, so what the hell could it be.
Started the engine up again and took off for the last 33kms to Broome with everything crossed.
