Well apparently all it took to get me out of my crabby mood was a magician and a phantom.  Yesterday sucked because our flight got delayed about 4 hours, and since Mom and Dad like getting there early, it meant spending most of the day at the airport.  Not fun.

I've decided that Luxor is an awesome place to stay.  This has been the first time in several years that we haven't stayed at Treasure Island.  Luxor doesn't just look cool on the outside; the inside is pretty rad too.  Mom hates the dim lighting, but I like it.  Plus we got upgraded to the East Tower rooms for free because they didn't have any adjacent regular rooms available.  One of the best features of Luxor is that it's right next to Excalibur, which is old but fun.  I'm pissed that Excalibur has lost some of its "medieval" features.  The stage for free performances has now been converted to a bar, and the stores are getting more generic.  Nevertheless, I've managed to find something that I wanted: The Lord of the Rings Tarot card (which doubles as a game) 01 - Mindfreak chopper
01 - Mindfreak chopper
.  It's such a shame they don't sell fantasy art anymore, other than a few dragon prints and "The Accolade."

This morning we went looked around a bit and found that the Criss Angel Mindfreak production offices were located here.  Sorry Rain, but I found a better guy to stalk.  Not that it's feasible to stalk a master street magician.  It's going to be hard to explain this to my friends, but Criss Angel is beyond cool.  He's part illusionist, part artist, part daredevil, and 100% badass.  He's levitated, walked on water, walked up the side of Aladdin, flew over Vegas hanging from fishhooks that were attached to a helicopter, and so much more.  I highly doubt that he'll be around this time of year, but who knows where the guy might appear.  I wanted to get this beautiful, artistically-rendered poster of him, but Mom and Dad are probably going to give me crap about how "weird" that would be.
So no Rain and no Criss Angel, but yes Phantom of the Opera.  Although the tickets weren't cheap, it was well worth it, and I had a good seat.  I don't know how long the Broadway version is, but the performance went by quickly.  It lasted a little over 90 minutes.  Christine, Raoul, Carlotta, and the Phantom were excellent, and the producers (not remembering their names) were great comedic relief.  Everybody was cheering the loudest for the Phantom who made a rather flashy appearance during curtain call.  My favorite scenes were "Music of the Night" and "Masquerade."  I liked the ending too, but it was sad (poor Phantom).  "Masquerade" had some of the best costumes I've ever come across, and the set was great as well.  The chandelier drop was somewhat anticlimactic because it had to immediately go back up since it would've blocked people's view.  It was actually cooler when the chandelier rose up.  Now that I've got the soundtrack, I'm not going to be able to stop singing all the songs.
