The goodbyes have been said, and my new life begins.  Yesterday, I had a wonderful dinner with my Rice friends at the Hobbit Cafe.  Afterwards we went to Teahouse and played Taboo.  That night, I dreamt of saying goodbye to old friends who weren't at dinner (those who have already graduated).   It was very odd, yet appropriate in a way.

In the afternoon, my family dropped me off at the Holiday Inn for the Pre-departure Orientation.  I was sad, but there were many things to keep my mind from dwelling on what I'd miss.  I've met many new and interesting people at the pre-departure orientation.  The night has been exhausting.  I hope I can get some sleep even though I'm already stressed about how I won't be home in a long time.  Well, long being until Christmas at the very least.  I can't believe I'm already thinking about that right now.

Lately I've been thinking about Linkin Park 's "Shadow of the Day"...or at least a particular verse.  It goes, "Your friends all plead for you to stay/ Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple/ Sometimes goodbye's the only way."  LP strikes again with saying exactly what's on my mind and what I feel.  I know this is the only way I can grow up and figure out what I want, but it's so tough.  And I haven't even left yet.
