My last few hours in Amsterdam were spent walking (of course!!) to say my goodbye to this Canal city..Best way is to travel by tram to a focal point then walk, wander;  the journey back to the hotel.... was wonderful to traverse the residential areas, seeing people at their normal routines.. shows a true side to any city..
The sun even shone for a short course, tis monday..
Wandered through the Albert Cuyp Market, two street blocks of wares.. the usual clothing, shoes, bags etc but the delight in seeing the flower stalls, fruits, cheese vendors and the fresh meat & fish stalls..
I might not eat a lot of these foods but seeing them fresh, displayed to their best  for their locals is a delight.. even the dutch sausages, fries .. ahh , the aromas...
Meandering down the streets, across the canals, took me past antique shops, blue china stores, souvenier shops by the dozens,
coffee shops etc.. have enjoyed this city..if time permitted a trip to the rural side would be wonderful...

Onto the super swift ICE (Inter city Express) train system for the next leg of the journey... these trains travel at up to 200 mph, soo smooth and comfortable.. reclining seats, clean windows..what more could one ask for? Amsterdam to Koln Germany then through to Boppard a riverside town on the Rhine... catching glimpses of this mighty river through the trees (& rain!!) and townsalong the way still didn't prepare me for Boppard!!  What a gorgeous town...16500 residents in its surrounding districts.. over 2,000 years of history datig back to the Romans, so many historiacl sights to see.
Getting here at twilight allowed me to check in..( Sonnenhof Hotel, situated next to the archacological park ruins) run out and walk!! Along the riverside ..awesome.. the trees, huge, tall and obviously as old as??; flowers blooming at their best, several barges..several hundred metres long.. quietly, smoothly cruise by: many tourists and locals with their dogs out walking and relaxing... Had to stop myself and return to the hotel or I would still be out walking.. The fresh crisp air , the lush greens & flowers..can't get much better than this folks, ooh but wait .. tomorrow..a river cruise..ooh..see you there..
