4am wake up today as we had places to be and our driver was a dick rushing us through everything. We woke up to the stars, again just like the other night and then were greeted by a beautiful sunrise over the lake. We made our way to a geyser field which was awesome. We got to take ur photos touching a geyser, and then spent about an hour walking through the smoke and sulfur smell that surrounded us. It was amazing, and reminded me of rotorua in New Zealand but with less (zero) rules. The sun rising over the mountains gave amazing light in the smoke and was amazing for photos.

We drove around for about half an hour and arrived at some hot springs, got changed and jumped in. It was 630am and so freezing but the water was hot as which was amazing. The hot springs over looked another lake. Again with flamingoes, but this lake was different as it had loads of alpacas and llamas drinking from it. A pretty cool thing to see first thing in the morning. After half an hour (we were meant to be there an hour, another case of driver is a dick) we left for Laguna verde which is meant to be the pinnacle of the trip. It is beautiful but Laguna Colorado was so much nicer. Even still it was the same story, a colourful lake, bordered by white salt, surrounded by mountains and rocks but this lake didn't have flamingoes :(

Again our limited tome meant we were swiftly evacuated and drove a few hours back to Laguna Colorado where we had lunch. The lake was a much more brilliant red than yesterday so it was stunningly beautiful, but this time we were blessed enough to see it from the opposite side to where we slept last night. We stopped at a "cafe" where we had lunch which was so gross. Tinned corn, beans and carrot with soggy rice and tinned tuna. Eww. I just ate rice and veggies and it was nowhere near substantial.

We kept driving and then the driver did us all a huge favour and asked us if we wanted to stop at rock valley (which was on our itinerary so yes we want to stop) and spend about 10 minutes here. Rock climbers paradise. I can't say more. Someone needs to go there, clean the rocks for climbing and bolt the shit out of them. As we were leaving we had our first glimpse of a suri or rhea in English which is a small ostrich like bird. We took some photos from the car (driver wouldn't stop) and made our way back to uyuni. Lucky for us, on the way back we saw 3 more suris which were cool.

We all needed the toilet so we stopped at San cristobal which is a small mining town and also bought some ice blocks and chocolate before continuing our 6hour or so drive back to uyuni. On the way I saw my first, second and third Rhea, an animal like an ostrich native to south America which was awesome. We finally arrived and were all pretty relived to be back. We got dropped at our agency and the door was locked. Awesome, we still need our bus tickets for tonight. I left a note on the front door in Spanish then we went to a restaurant next door and had some dinner. By had dinner I mean plugged in our electronics and checked the Internet to see what was happening in the world.

We finally got our bus tickets and come 8pm we were on a bus ready to depart. Again the bus was fucked. The roads are so shit, I don't get why they don't repair them. Uyuni is the number one tourist attraction in Bolivia and the main highway is made from loose dirt and sand. About 15 minutes in we were pulled over and some guy ran up to the driver and started yelling at him. We have all heard the horror bus robbery stories so we quickly hid our passports and some valuables and braced to be mugged. Luckily the guy took off and we continued on our way. We got some shut eye. The only appropriate thing to try and do on a 10 hour overnight bus.
