Hello friends and family. So, after a frustrating few days in no. India, I caught a short flight down to India's vacation capital in the south on the Arabian Sea, Goa. Once a Portugese colony, this is truly a tropical paradise with fewer crowds, fewer people, and beautiful scenery. Its a bit like the Thai islands, but even a bit more remote feeling. Whats interesting about this place is that it is heavily influenced by Catholicism, and so it has a totally different feel to the rest of India as Hindi and Christianity inter-fuse. That said, while its one of the more fun places in India, its also quite conservative and bars/clubs are required to close at 10pIm staying in a small place on the beach. But the quite beach has allowed me to get some much needed rest of the frenetic pace of the northern sights. I will prob spend a few more days here (since accommodations are cheap) and then head up to Mumbai (old Bombay) for just a night, since the hotels there are more expensive.
Today I headed into one of the main towns here, called Mapusa. I did some errands, which included getting more cash and eating a delicious Punjab lunch for about a dollar. I also got the deluxe haircut and close shave (also including a face massage) for all of about $1.50. This was my first shave since I started traveling, and I did it b/c I was afraid that I was starting to look like one of these Israeli hippies out here who don't appear to bathe on a regular basis. So, now Im back to my old soft face.
Anyway, hope everyone had a spooky Halloween. As for me, its hot down here and I feel as if summer never ended.

Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself
Hello Matt,
I am glad to hear you are enjoying more this part of India than the north part.
Althoug I would give my left arm to visit all the places you have visited, even if in some of the places the people are annoying.
Too bad you shave your face, I wanted to see more photos of you like the castaway guy.
Florida is warm like always, but we think we are having a fall here because temperatures drop down to 79 degrees. :0)
Take care and keep up with the good times,
Isabel.
