La Paz is the govermental capital of Bolivia, and its hits you in the face with how busy it is straight away. Here is a good base for flying to the jungle (in the next post which is amazing). It has a mix of skyscrapers, colonial buildings and great markets with older streets, but i couldnt help feeling it was a bit dirty... and if not doing tours and once you have walked round the city..the only thing left to do is party.. and party you do here!... the police are payed off by clubs and you can do anything you please..mental!
I stayed at the Loki hostel which was a greatr atmosphere and met some of my best friends.. (shane i havent giggled like a girl for so long as we did..pupmed)
If noone has read the book "Marching Powder" about the famous prison in la paz read it now !!!
the Bolivian goverment is so corrupt and poor they have a prison which is world famous and we went to it for a visit. They have to buy their own cells, get a job their families live with them and kids leave for school!.. i kid you not.. they make cocaine in the prison and traffic it.. if you dont have money..you die! it was amazing and so interesting
