I didnt now what to expect when our group started the 47 km hike over the Andes mountains to the lost city of the Incas for over 3 days. Firstly all we had to take is one bag with cameras, water, jackets etc, and the porters took the rest. The porters are the guys that not just carry, but run ahead of you each with 60 kilos on their backs wit th erest of pour stuff and ALL the food and camping equipment!... these guys are small and are not human they are some other being.  They have calf muscles like aubergines!.

They run past you, a lot of the time up hill to set up camp cook lunch , set up out tents and have hot water ready for our lazy ass tourist feet.. i felt well bad them doing that for us..but its their job and they seem to like it.

Off we set and it was baking hot, but didnt seem to bad even after our first incline i thought this isnt going to be too bad. We had lucn which was amazing then off we set again.. gettin a bit harder we passed sopme stunning scenery which you just had to stop and stare in awe as we got higher and higher. We eventually got to our first overnight stay. The sun went and it instantly went to about minus 2 because of the high altitude !... loads of the girls froze but i had a spaceman type sleeping bag and being a bloke didnt need to walk to the toilet in the night just peed right outside the tent..classy.

Then we were told about the second day, called the "Dead womans pass".. becuase the rock formation looked like a dead woman. The first 2 hours didnt seem too bad but we had to stop a lot more with the oxygen getting less and less wit the altitude.. then after lunch.. oh my god.. it was time to climb to our highest point of 4200 meters above sea level over the dead womans pass. Shit if i could i would of killed her myself!!  this was so hard stopping every few mins to breathe and find any energy our bodys could possibly obtain.

We chewed the coca leaves they gave us (yes this does make cocaine)  and ate snickers but nothing helped much. as a team we eventually reached the top, you can see me kissing the post in one pic!. LOL...  we got to the top and looked out and I was just speechless.. overtaken with emotions of self achievment, luck to be stood their and completely sucked into nature of the sheer beauty of being as high as the clouds...........speechless. We sat there for nearly an hour.

The way down that day was just as bad as it hurt your knees every large step..  but stopped to wonder how a 1000 years ago they built this and walked it regularly. it truley is amazing the whole way.

The last day we got up at 3.30 am to make the last few hours trek to Macchu Picchu to be ther for sunrise.... Gutted.. it had been suunt for 3 days an the one morning we got there it was so foggy. but we persisted walking along a trek whith 1000feet drops beside you.. and got there.. even though we copuldnt see much straight away from the look out everyone was so excited and could see bits of tis amazing wonder of the world which we earned the right to see, some people just got the train there and did NO walking...

After a few hours teh skys clearerd and i felt just luck and in awe of this wonder. Our guide did a 2 hour tour for us then we were just left to look around. The biggest sense of self satisfaction was with me.... and and extreme amount of tiredness and pain.  As soon as i got back to cusco.. i had a full body massage.. oh my god it felt nice.. then I partied my arse off for a week lol.
