I skimmed through Lima getting to Cusco to start my Inca trail adventure and my 47 km hike over the Andean mountains to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu. On arriving in Cusco you instantly feel the high altitude.  You get light headed just climbing 10 steps! Cusco is the heart of tourism for Peru and once the foremost city of the Inca empire.  It is a beautiful city with great plazas and cobblestoned streets.

we had to get climatized to the altitude so didnt start the trek straight away. Our first day was a visit to the amazing sacred valley to meet villagers that live high in the mountains, with alpacas and liams running around. These people still speak the native cechuan language aswell as spanish. It was great to see how they use basic materials to create such colourful fabrics etc.. all from plants.

After my trail (in separate blog entry) I returned to Cusco to stay in the party hostal Loki for 1 week, where we certainly did party!.. met some great people and had an awesome time, the club Mama Africas was visited many times.. had to rescuse myself and leave for Bolivia LOL.
