Every country has a boring city that is the brunt of all its jokes. England has Milton Keynes, Holland has The Hague and Belgium Brussels. Australia has Adelaide!

We hadn't met anyone so far that had said a good thing about the city, its nickname is the city of churches after all, but we thought we'd give it the benefit of doubt anyway. After visiting the info centre we realised that there wasn't actually that much to do in Adelaide unless you liked parks or museums.

After the success of the previous relocation, we decided to change our plans. Originally we had planned to travel to Perth on the train - a mere 2 day's travel, but instead we booked another camper to drive the 3000kms!! 6 days of driving!

We have always wanted to make the famous long drive, but after hearing horror stories of people breaking down in the middle of the desert, we decided not to. It wasn't until we found out about the relocations and their 24 hour roadside recovery, that we changed our minds!

Ideally we could have left straight away, but annoyingly we had to wait a week until the camper was available, one of the few disadvantages of relocating. So it looked like we had to entertain ourselves for a week in Adelaide...

Adelaide wasn't that bad though, it was actually a really beautiful city - the only one in the world surrounded by parks apparently - fact of the day people!

To keep ourselves amused we booked ourselves onto a wine tour. Although no wine buffs, we thought we'd better go and sample the delights from the world famous Barossa Valley, home to a great deal of famous winery's, including the legendary Jacobs Creek.

With Jacob's Creek on offer, 3 other wineries, 40 wines to try and a bbq, all for $69 (£25) it was hard to refuse!

We actually had a really good day, before, the only knowledge of wine we had was the brands of 'goon' (box wine) that were on sale at the bottle shop. Now, we were sniffing and slurping like professionals! Sadly though, after 40 wines, they all tasted the same to me, my dislike to red wine had grown even more, and all I craved was a nice cold beer. Well at least i tried!

Other things we got up to in Adelaide...

Caught a very old wooden tram to Adelaide's trendy beach suburb Glenelg to sunbathe. Didn't realise how cold and windy it was until we got there. Came back sharpish!

Walked 5kms to Waterfall Gully, a waterfall that's is also the start of a trail up a mountain, only to find the trail was closed and we had to walk back - thank you info centre women!!

Visited a few churches... now you all know that didn't happen!!

*

A big well done to the mighty Southend United getting promotion to the 1st Division, we wont talk about Norwich getting relegated though...! Have a good weekend people.

Matt
