Hello everyone! Tomorrow is my official swearing in to the Peace Corps. The first lady of Haiti will be the master of ceremonies. We arrived in Port Au Prince yesterday. It has been so nice to eat delicious food (yesterday and today I had Phillie cheesesteak sandwiches that I swear could have been made in Phillie they were so tasty!) and browse around in nice stores that are just like the supermarkets in the states with all the ammenities (except beef jerky!). Port Au Prince is overwhelming because of its size, the trash and the poverty. We are in the area called Petionville which is like the Beverly Hills of Port Au Prince. Every other car is a luxury vehicle, the prices are the same as if you were in the states and there are all types of diversity. Tonight we have a costume ball to let our hair down. The Salvation Army sends ship loads of some of the ugliest clothes down here so there have been a lot of costumes, ugly outfits to choose from. I set up a new address so that everyone can send me letters, magazines and beef jerky without any worry of it getting lost in the mail Swearing In

. Letters go to this address:
David G. Holland
Lynx Air International/PMB
PO Box 407139
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33340-7139
Packages go to this address:
David G. Holland - Port Au Prince, Haiti
c/o Lynx Air
2525 N.W. 55 Court
Hangar 24
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2679
It works just like sending things in the states. The mailbox is in David's name, a fellow volunteer. Thank you all for sending all the wonderful letters and packages, if they got here or not, your support means the world to me and it is very helpful. The e-mails are excellent as well so keep it coming. Its reassuring to hear from you all and it makes my time down here all the easier. The excitement is getting to me and I can no longer wait to get to my site and start my assignment. All the best to everyone and I will keep you posted!
