This morning, we woke up at 8:00 am to the sun. We packed up camp, ate breakfast, and started driving to Las Vegas. On the way, we drove through Death Valley. We saw temperatures of as high as 117°F. We stopped at the lowest point in the United States and probably the hottest because of our horrible sunburns from summiting Mt. Whitney. Badwater Basin is 282 feet below sea level and when we got there it was 115-117°F. It felt like we were stepping into a sauna. We went to the highest and lowest point in the continental US in 24 hours. After seeing Badwater Basin, we drove to Las Vegas. We had a little bit of trouble checking in, but eventually we got up to our room. Dad sent another care package, along with Lisa, Rick, and Keith. Thank you! For the rest of the day, we hung out in the hotel room and ordered pizza. We were all tired and sore.
