This morning we woke up, ate breakfast, and headed off to Pier 39. The famous pier has tons of tourist stores and restaurants. We ate as some generic place that served burgers. We looked around at the interesting stores and went inside a couple of stores. We saw about 20-30 sea lions sunbathing on the pier. From the pier, we rode the trolley car as far as they would let us go. I got to hang off the side. We stopped by union square and the Capitol building just for a moment. We only did this because of where the trolley car took us to Union Square. We also visited the original Ghirardelli chocolate factory before we rode the trolley. We visited Lombard Street before we went back to the hotel. It was curvy! It was made that way so cars could drive down the road. It used to be at a 27% grade and not drivable. Once we got back to the hotel, we walked around the block to a Chinese restaurant. Our waiter didn't know English, but it was delicious! We came back to the hotel and relaxed for the rest of the night. We all got sunburned at the end of the day. We underestimated the sun.
