First time for everything
Sep 29, 2013
We had arranged to meet a French guy called Tom off the couchsurfing website, which for anyone who doesn't know, is a website where people offer a place to stay for a certain amount of nights. Sometimes on their couch, floors, sofa beds or even beds depending on what they have. Very cheap way to really see everything. So Tom was kind enough to pick us up at the station and took us back to his apartment and told us to make ourselves at home. With one sofa and one blow up mattress to sleep on it wasn't that bad of a nights sleep. He has two pet rats called 'jungo' and 'tiny body' which are so cute. We get them out the cage quite a lot and play with them. The first night Tom had no food in the house so we went to a Chinese restaurant which was pretty good
. The next day he gave us a key to the apartment so we could visit Vannes in our own time and see everything which was great. It's quite small and we ended up walking around it about 10 times just to find a mcdonalds. Shameful I know. I ended up damaging my knee somehow and could hardly walk on it by the end. When Tom got back from work we went to supermarket to get food for lunch and dinners. He cooked us a nice meal then we had a few drinks and played cards. Really nice guy. Tonight we are cooking for him then we are going to a bar for a couple and check out the town at night. Vannes is lovely but you can see everything in a day really. We went inside a massive cathedral called 'ST Pierre' which was really cool and saw a lot of the old buildings around. One more night then we travel to Nantes for another couchsurfer!
So we finished at our last Workaway last Sunday and we got dropped of at Rennes where we took a train to Vannes, which wasn't cheap at all but buses don't run on a Sunday. We won't be traveling on a Sunday again if we can help it.
