So on sunday night I met Raz's mother Shosh, his sister Ziv and granny (sorry granny I can't remember your name). They were all lovely, and dinner was a delicious home made pizza and shakshuka (tomato egg and mince).

Monday we woke up early to go to Haifa. Haifa is built on a mountain, so to go up to the top you need to take an elevator train which was very weird. We made it to the top where our tour of the beautiful bahai gardens awaited. The photos tell the story again, and it was fascinating learning about the open minded bahai religion. There was an american guy however who was obsessed by the fact the tour guide was saying script and not scriptue, and it was amusing to watch his rising irritation levels.

We then had lunch at s famous felafel place which Raz says is the best felafel in Israel. It was delicious and I liked like home made cold drinks there. Next we went back to the top of Haifa snd hiked down the mountain, which was about 2 hours. We were baked in sweat, but it was really fun and something I'm glad we did.

I went back by myself as Raz had to attend a concert he is reviewing, and this was handled successfully aside from the usual Israeli angst surrounding queues. When I'm "old", I intend to be polite and respectful. I went to Shosh's place for dinner again which was another delicious dish, this time marinated chicken and dumplings. Ziv and I then had beers and watched South Park.

Tuesday after a much needed sleep in Raz and I headed to Akko, which is an ancient city that has been conquered and reconquered many time. It had great authentic marketplaces and forts, and also a cool tunnel system. By this stage the blisters I had had over the past week were at their worst, but I enjoyed the experience regardless. We then had late lunch/early dinner at a prestigious seafood restaurant Uri Buri, where I had the vegetarian gnocchi. After this we went back to Shosh's place where schnitEl and chips were on the menu, and her schnitzel were fantastic and home made with nice spices (also I like Raz's arabic coffee).

Wednesday being my last day in Israel, we went plus Ziv to Caesarea, an ancient roman village with ruins. First we stopped by Raz's old kibbutz Stod Yam (a kibbutz is a communal living area) which was beautiful and green with farm animals and nice houses. We then went to the ruins which was fascinating, and I guess a taste of what Rome will be like. For dinner Shosh cooked a Romanian dish which was very strange but nevertheless delicious of course.

I have now said a very sad goodbye again to Raz and his family, but like I've said before I would love to come again and probably with Robert next time. Israel is a very fascinating place.
