Got to Brisbane on Sat and jumped on the train to Coomera Waters where Bryan & Myra picked us up. Got in the car and Bryan said, "So you've been camping everywhere?" "No, staying in hostels." came our reply. "Oh...well we're glad you like camping anyway, there's a nice spot of grass for you in the garden!" Me & Matt went silent in the back, thinking the same thing - we haven't even brought a tent! but we found ourselves saying "Great, that will be fine!" I had visions of us rolling out our sleeping mats in the garden! After what seemed like a lifetime, Matt piped up, "Er..have you actually got a tent...we didn't bring ours...haha!" They looked shocked and didn't have one but said we would sort something out, it was very embarassing! In the end they kicked Myra's son out of his office & put a blow up bed out for us - we felt so cheeky.
They took us out for dinner on the firt night to a restaurant on the marina famous for it's ribs - they were huge portins but really tasty. Bryan showed us the sights of Coomera Waters (a very posh area) the next day and on the last day we went to Surfers Paradise & up the Q1 Tower. The views of the Gold Coast were fantastic. That night they took us to a really posh restaurant called George's, which was right on the marina full of huge expenisve boats and the food was delicious.
The next day we hired a car and headed down the coast for Urunga, we stopped off at Byron Bay on the way which was really nice and we had a nice lunch there. Arrived at Anne-Marie's that evening to find she's a real character! She showed us her newsagents shop and took us to the local bowling club for pizza and beers. Her & her husband Bill are real small town Aussie's and kept us entertained! Later, we were introduced to her prized Jack Russels; Nancy & Studley who were treated like royalty and very cute.
After sharing our bed with two Jack Russels we drove up to Dorrigo National Park & saw Danger Falls, it's a really beautiful place. Later we wandered round Coff's Harbour & then met Bill in the local pub for a few beers before heading back to the house for a proper roast. Before we left, Anne-Marie showed us some of the damage caused by recent floods, it was shocking, some houses were completely devastated. We're just hoping they're both ok because there have been more severe floods since we left.
