We headed off with 2 lovely girls, who were teachers from Brisbane now based in London to Pamukkale.

The guide books say that Pamukkale has lost a lot of it's charm, and that the postcard pics of years gone by are not possible any more. So, we had reservations going, but with locals assuring us that all was ok, we set out.

And it was a nice surprise. Sure the calcium deposits terraces have changed a bit (apparently due to local hoteliers abusing the water source), but it was still worth a stop....but we quickly made a decision that it wasn't worth a night stopover, as the surrounding town was a bit sterile and "dead", and booked a bus out later that evening.

We are loving the the spring days....as the sun sets at aout 8pm -ish so it gives plenty of time for site seeing.

We hope you like the pics, we had fun getting them, it is a really beautiful and different place. The water is tepid in places others cold. And we also rumaged around in the ruins of Heiroplois behind the formations for a while after.

We opted out of the swimming with the columns experience for $15 ish, looked a bit tacky, but the water was warm and has a lot of supposed health benefits due to the mineral content...??

All in all worth a visit, but not a night.

Bye

Nic and Matt
