Top of the morning too everyone and greetings from Ireland. We had decided to head for Ireland for a while to see the rolling green hills, drink Guinness and witness St Pat's day from Dublin.

Our first day included allot of time in pubs drinking Guinness and talking to the locals (sometimes trying to figure out what they were saying - many have a thick accent) and trying to see things for free as it was quickly evident that Dublin was VERY expensive. Luckily most of the touristy things were close by, and we could always stop into a pub..

In addition to the pubs we went to the art museum and saw some Celtic art, saw some bog bodies in the natural history museum and then went back to one of the millions of pub and had a good pub meal washed down with guess what.. me in my paddies uniform

Day 2 saw as take a tour - usually i wouldn't be caught dead in a tour bus - but as Christina was with me sacrifices had to be made - and anyway the public transport here between cities leaves allot to be desired (plus it was cheaper to go on the tour).

So we headed to glendalogh, a small village made famous by brother Kev who turned up 100s of years ago and medicated allot. From just one person (Kev) 100s more turned up to join him and a monastery and a few buildings were built. Today all that is left is a few crumbling buildings and a tower , but the real highlight of the trip was the scenery seen getting to the village and the landscape surrounding the buildings, which also included a Celtic cemetery complete with all these Celtic crosses and lakes with sheep everywhere.

I cant really explain how pretty and green Ireland really is. Even if Ireland wasn't noted for its 'green' I'm pretty sure i would be mentioning it here as it is so pronounced. Especially coming from a soviet winter were the color of choice was suicidal grey.

Day 3
What better time to go to the Guinness factory than the day before paddies day matt and his first pint
matt and his first pint
! The choice was made even easier as the famous Ireland skies opened up and started raining cats and Guinness.

Too be honest it wasn't so much a brewery tour as marketing tool but what there was very colorful and informative. Being the paddies day week extra tastings were being offered as well as the usual pints up in the gravity bar which would have had great views of Dublin except for the rain. Too cap all these craziness off the six nations were playing (england v Ireland ) and the brewery had set up a huge screen. Great fun was had by all, but what was strange was that there seemed to be more English people there than Irish. So everyone was happy when the greens got belted.

The day was finished, like many before it drinking the black amber in a pub

Day 4

Saw the parade and drank Guinness - see pics
