To be honest, other than shopping, the UAE doesn't seem to be much of a tourist destination. What was nice was that it seemed to be possible to travel faster than 60km on a highway and no cows!
However as I was only there a day I had to make the most of it so I braved the most amazing sand storm I've been in and headed to Dubai and look around. What you see on TV is true the place really is an example of a city where serious amounts of money are being spent and cranes are everywhere building skyscrapers.
I saw both the sail hotel (they would let me or anyone in) and the worlds tallest tower - however the sandstorm made it very hard to see either and at the end I headed back to my room and watched TV. Which was hard when you have a TV with 1000 channels in it
