We didn't spend much time in Jakarta, thank goodness, it didn't seem to be a very attractive city.

We took an overnight bus from Jogjakarta, a 12 hr trip that managed to take 14 or so. The roads were slightly better than we had previously experienced in Indonesia, but still awful. We had chosen the "EXECUTIVE" bus, and man I would HATE to see the 2 levels beneath our bus.

When we "arrived" we were dropped, not at the bus terminal as we had discussed, but basically on the side of the road somewhere. The rest of the people on the bus didn't seem very happy either, the driver just kinda announced get out here, this bus is now going someplace else. They were screaming at him and he didn't seem to care and just pointed in the direction of some "bemos". As you do in these situations, we found some friendly local went so far as to wait with us for another bus and we were headed on our way to the airport. We kinda realised we weren't quite in the middle of nowhere after all and there was plenty of transport around. But, the thought of trying to travel downtown and look around really didn't appeal.

So, we hung out at the airport for a while tried to get some sleep and jumped on our plane back to Kuala Lumpar to get to Borneo.

Sorry no pics
