It was very much like Brisbane, with a river running through the middle of city and, even better , every one was speaking English! Also like the tshirts say, there are fines for everything, though this makes the city very clean. However I was told that Singapore isn't a good example of South East Asia i.e. it isn't cheap and dirty
I stopped off at Raffles Hotel (a very famous hotel, which i found out cost $1000 a night!) and went to the long bar ('tourist trap) to have a Singapore sling - it was ok though it cost $20 and i later learnt contained very little alcohol
There was also a 'mooncake festival' happening so i bought a few of those and shared them with the family later.
As the island used to be a colony of England, the place still had large colonial palaces and houses. While i didn't have time to see them they looked very interesting and next time i am there i will certainly have a closer look.
The 'mere lion' is the symbol of Singapore but, as the pics show, not very interesting (even when it blows water out of its mouth and the spray wets everyone).
Very high humidity, heat and jeans do not mix!
Had dinner in 'little India' (so good after 4.5 months of eating Kimchi) and caught a late flight to Australia
The airport is amazing, certainly the biggest i have ever seen with a great selection of duty free items and things to do eg. a movie theater, pool or relaxation rooms (no not those types)
Sorry for the short post (or are you happy??) but there is only so much you can see and do in half a day
Enjoy the pics
